Selected by Baltimore in the 1st round (1st overall pick) of the 2019 MLB Draft... was just the second time the Orioles had the first overall pick, after RHP Ben McDonald was selected out of LSU in 1989. Was also the first catcher selected by Baltimore in the first round since Matt Wieters (5th overall pick) in 2007... became the first catcher selected No. 1 overall since Minnesota selected Joe Mauer in 2001... attended Oregon State University, where he hit .352 with 39 doubles, five triples, 28 home runs and 174 RBI over 185 career games with the Beavers. As a junior in 2019, earned the Golden Spikes Award, Dick Howser Trophy and Buster Posey Award after leading Division I in on-base percentage (.575) and walks (76)... during his sophomore year in 2018, he helped lead Oregon State to its third NCAA Championship. ... was named the College World Series Most Outstanding Player and set a CWS record with 17 hits. Set the OSU single-season record for hits (102) and RBI (83). Played alongside fellow Orioles minor leaguer IF Cadyn Grenier at Oregon State... Served as Oregon State's placekicker on kickoffs his freshman year, averaging 59.5 yards per kick while recording 20 touchbacks in 12 games... graduated from Sherwood High School (OR), where he was the 2016 Oregon Gatorade Player of the Year and was ranked by Baseball Northwest as the #2 high school player in the state. Was three-time All-State and three-time First-Team All League.... selected by Seattle in the 40th round of the 2016 MLB Draft but did not sign... his father, Randy, played college baseball at Linfield College, a Division III school in Oregon. His grandfather, Ad, coached Linfield to three NAIA Division II football championships (1982, 1984, 1986) and a NAIA Division II baseball championship (1971).

♦ Made his Triple-A debut with Norfolk on Aug. 10, 2021, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a double against Memphis
♦ Began the season with Double-A Bowie, where he hit .271 with 18 homers, 55 RBIs and 80 hits in 80 games

2020
♦ Did not play (season canceled due to Covid-19)

2019
♦ Began pro career with the GCL Orioles and played five games there before being transferred to Class-A Aberdeen on 7/27.
♦ Named Orioles Minor League Player of the Month for August after hitting .344 (21-61) with a home run, 15 RBI and a .432 OBP in 16 games for Aberdeen.
♦ Hit safely in 10 consecutive contests, 8/9 - 8/19. Capped that hitting streak with five hits (including his first pro home run), a triple and four RBI on 8/19 vs. Vermont.
♦ Transferred to Class-A Delmarva on 8/21 and played final 12 games of the season there.
