Moss Homers in 8-3 Loss

CURVE, Pa. – Erie scored six times in the second inning and cruised to an 8-3 win over the Curve in front of 7,300 fans at Peoples Natural Gas Field on Saturday night.

Murf Gray drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the first inning to give the Curve an early 1-0 lead, however, Erie tagged Curve starter Peyton Stumbo for six runs in the second. Erie’s Patrick Lee hit a three-run homer with two outs and the SeaWolves added five straight baserunners after that to take the commanding 6-1 lead.

Keiner Delgado recorded his second double of the game and drove in Ivan Brethowr in the third inning. Delgado doubled in each of his first two at-bats out of the leadoff spot in the order. Callan Moss slammed his ninth homer of the season in the fourth inning.

Erie’s Joe Miller earned the win with five innings of three-run ball. Erie’s bullpen allowed four walks, but combined to throw four scoreless frames to finish off the win.

Jarod Bayless and Sean Sullivan combined for three scoreless innings of relief in the loss.

Gray has reached base safely in 31-of-33 games played with Altoona.

Altoona wraps up their series with Erie on Sunday night at 6:00 p.m. RHP Matt Ager will start on the mound for the Curve with LHP Carlos Pena slated to start for Erie. Pirates infielder Konnor Griffin is scheduled to rehab with the Curve on Sunday.
