The Sky Carp made their long-awaited return to ABC Supply Stadium
Tuesday night in a 7-1 defeat to the Peoria Chiefs to kick off a 12-game homestand.
The Carp, freshly back from a 12-game road trip that saw them go an even 6-6,
managed just five hits while Peoria parlayed three first inning runs into the victory in the
opener.
Beloit's lone run came in the sixth inning on a solo home run from Connor Caskenette,
his fourth of the season. The Carp had just three opportunities with runners in scoring
position and couldn't cash in on any of them, leaving six men on base.
Carson Laws (0-3) took the loss. Laws was able to settle down after the rocky first and
ended up throwing three more frames without allowing a run while striking out seven.
Peoria's Josh Kross ended the day 3-for-4 with a home run, an RBI and a run scored,
while Won-Bin Cho hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning that stretched the Chiefs
lead to 7-1.
Blake Aita (1-2) was outstanding for the Chiefs, going five scoreless innings while
allowing four hits and striking out four.
Cody Schrier led the offense for the Carp with two hits.
The two teams will be back in action Wednesday at 11:05 a.m. on Education Day at
ABC Supply Stadium. Peyton Fosher will get the start for the Sky Carp, who will look to
even the series.
