Talk about a busy day. We spoke with some big-league guys who have been in Charlotte (shoutout to former Knights), toured the facility, and Tanner McDougal answered your questions!
It is beautiful today in AZ. The team does a BBQ once a week for lunch, and as soon as I stepped outside to go to the batting cages, I saw them cooking, and it smelled incredible. I think we took some pictures I'll show, because it looked 10/10.
Tanner McDougal was talking to me today about balancing fun with competition here at Spring Training. It's an interesting contrast, but he said, “We're all here to do a job," even though the camaraderie here is clear, and he mentioned it. A lot of the big leaguers I talked to today were shouting out younger prospects we'll probably see soon in Charlotte, including McDougal. Braden Montgomery, Hagen Smith, and Noah Schultz were also mentioned. As we always say, tomorrow's stars are here today (or on March 27th) at Truist Field.

Meet Tanner McDougal
- Young pitching prospect – Born April 9, 2003, in Henderson, Nevada, McDougal is one of the younger arms in the White Sox system.
- Drafted in 2021 – The White Sox selected him in the 5th round of the 2021 MLB Draft out of Silverado High School in Las Vegas.
- Built for power – At 6-foot-5 and 185 pounds, McDougal has the size teams look for in a power pitcher.
- Rising prospect – He has climbed the White Sox farm system and earned recognition as one of the organization’s top prospects.
Advice to parents of kids playing sports from: “Let the youth be the youth. Let them play different sports. You’re never going to win when you try to force a young kid to do something he or she doesn’t want to do.”
