Columbus Quiets the Cubs Wednesday Night

COLUMBUS, OH - The Columbus Clippers sailed past the Iowa Cubs on a warm Wednesday evening in the Arena District, winning 6-2.
7,888 fabulous fans cheered on the Clippers as they quickly erased an early 2-0 Cubs lead. Columbus scored six times between the 2nd and 4th innings while their pitching staff quieted the visitors from Iowa.
Alfonsin Rosario doubled in the first run and scored on an error to tie things up. Then Cooper Ingle gave Columbus the lead with a RBI-single.
Blake Perkins doubled home a run in the 3rd to make it a 4-2 game. Dayan Frias led off the 4th by launching his 6th home run of the season over the wall in right-center field.

The lead grew to four later in the inning thanks to a sacrifice fly by Kyle Manzardo.
Right-handed starter Ben Lively allowed no earned runs over the first 4.2 innings, striking out two. The bullpen kept Iowa off the scoreboard the rest of the way, led by Jack Leftwich (3-4) who needed just 16 pitches to throw 2.0 scoreless innings.
The win gives Columbus a record of 71-60 for the season, while Iowa falls to 56-75.
