DAYTON, OHIO—Dayton Dragons starting pitcher Nestor Lorant has been selected as the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 4-10, 2026.
Lorant (luh-RANT) made one start during the week, tossing seven shutout innings at West Michigan on Friday, May 8 to earn the win. He allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out seven. Lorant has not allowed a run over his last three outings and has a consecutive inning scoreless streak of 19.2 innings.
Lorant was the Cincinnati Reds 2024 Minor League Pitcher of the Year. In 2026 with the Dragons, Lorant is 2-2 with a 2.05 earned runs average that ranks fourth in the MWL. He is tied for third in the league in strikeouts with 40 in 30.2 innings.
Lorant is a 24-year-old native of San Felix, Venezuela. He was signed by the Reds as an international free agent in 2019.
The Dragons (19-14) return home tonight to Day Air Ballpark in the heart of the Water Street District to begin a six-game series against the Lake County Captains (15-17) at 7:05 pm. Beau Blanchard (3-2, 4.28) will start for the Dragons. The Dragons are coming off a six-game road series sweep at West Michigan.
