Serwa's Seven Shutout Innings Headline Dominant Win over Somerset

ERIE, PA - The Erie SeaWolves (39-21, 75-53) used a seven-run second inning to take control in a 17-0 victory over the Somerset Patriots (32-28, 69-60) on Friday night at UPMC Park.

Kenny Serwa was outstanding on the mound for Erie. The knuckleballer tossed seven scoreless innings for the second straight home start. In five starts against the Northeast Division in 2026, Serwa has posted a 0.57 ERA in 31.2 innings.

Erie's offense started things in the first inning as the first three hitters reached on a hit by pitch, a single and an error by the third baseman Rodrick Arias to load the bases against Somerset starter Dom Hamel. The first run scored on a wild pitch and Luke Shliger scored the second on a sacrifice fly.

The SeaWolves broke the game wide open in the second. Roberto Campos started the inning with a triple and scored on a wild pitch to score the first of seven runs in the inning. Peyton Graham doubled and scored, Woody Hadeen singled and Campos smoked another double in the frame. Erie worked four walks in the inning as well, sending eleven to the plate.

Back-to-back walks set the tone to start the third inning and EJ Exposito laced a two-run single to add to the lead. Singles from Izaac Pacheco and Clayton Campbell combined to bring around the third run of the third and gave Erie a 12-0 lead as the SeaWolves hit through the order for the second straight inning.

The first three reached again in the fourth on a walk and singles from Hadeen and Zyhir Hope. Exposito added another RBI with a fielder's choice and Pacheco hit a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 14.

The SeaWolves were kept off the board for the first time in the fifth inning, but went right back to work in the sixth. After a strikeout to start the inning, Exposito poked a single to left, Pacheco worked a walk and Shliger doubled them in to make it 16-0. Campbell followed with a double of his own to add the 17th and final run of the night.

Eric Silva took over after Kenny Serwa and tossed two scoreless innings to close things out and secure the win and lower the magic number down to four with nine games to play.

The SeaWolves are back in action for a doubleheader tomorrow night starting at 5:05 PM.
