'Gades claw back, taking down Cyclones to get within one game of the playoffs

Wappingers Falls, N.Y. – The Hudson Valley Renegades leveled their six-game series with the Brooklyn Cyclones, winning 5-2 on Friday night at Heritage Financial Park.

The Renegades had at least one hit in all but one inning on Friday night. All but two Renegades failed to get on base, and all but three failed to get a hit.

The Cyclones grabbed two runs in the third inning and then stranded eight runners on base in the following six innings.

Renegades pitching walked six Cyclones. Hudson Valley has walked 26 Brooklyn batters this week.

Brooklyn moved five runners into scoring position after the first three innings but couldn’t bring one home.

In each of the Renegades’ two wins this week, they’ve won after the Cyclones scored first. Hudson Valley is 25-36 this season when opponents score first.

Cyclones pitching struck out 10 Renegades. Brooklyn has 38 strikeouts through four games in the current series.

Hudson Valley pitching struck out 11 Cyclones. The Renegades also have 39 strikeouts through four games.

The Renegades have won 15 of their last 19 games, their best 19-game stretch this season.

The Renegades move to 14-7 overall against Brooklyn, 7-3 at home, and 4-3 in the second half.

The Renegades are 1.0 game back of the Greensboro Grasshoppers and the second half playoff spot after Greensboro lost its game to the Hub City Spartanburgers.

Renegades starting pitchers have thrown a combined 37.0 IP, 24 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 15 BB, 40 K in the last eight games.

LHP Allen Facundo (6.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 5 K) has not allowed more than three runs to score over his last three starts (18.0 IP).

Facundo threw 6.0+ innings for the sixth time. He also logged his fourth quality start of the season.

Facundo is tied for the most quality starts this season by a Renegades’ pitcher with Rory Fox and Luis Serna.

Facundo has not walked fewer than three batters in a start since 6/25 at Bowling Green when he walked two.

Facundo has struck out five-or-more batters in five of his last six starts.

Facundo is up to 116 strikeouts on the season, second-most in the SAL behind only Luis Serna (128). They are the only teammates in MiLB to rank 1-2 in their respective league in strikeouts.

Facundo’s 116 strikeouts is the fourth-highest single-season total in Renegades history. He trails Drew Thorpe (138, 2023), Serna, and Mitch Spence (118, 2021).

1B Kyle West (2-for-4, HR, R, 2 RBI) became just the third Renegade in history to reach 20 home runs in a single season.

West joined Tyler Hardman and Dan Grummitt in the 20-home run club. Hardman (2022) and Grummitt (1999) are tied for the single-season team record with 22 home runs.

West grabbed his team-leading 28^th multi-hit performance of the season and his second in as many games.

SS Jackson Lovich (0-for-4, 3 K, SB) saw his 13-game on-base streak come to an end.

C Eric Genther (2-for-3, R, RBI, BB, HBP) extended his on-base streak to 12 games.

Genther is hitting .267/.411/.533 over the stretch with 3 2B, 3 HR, 9 R, 10 RBI, 10 BB, 8 K, 2-for-2 SB.

Genther got hit by a pitch for the 27^th time this season. He’s tied with Jacob McCombs for the most in High-A.

DH Dean Toigo (2-for-4, R) has gotten on base in 14 of his first 15 professional games.

2B Enmanuel Tejeda (2-for-4, SB) extended his on-base streak to six games and has gotten hits in five of his last six games played.

3B Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek (1-for-2, R, RBI, 2 BB, K, SB) extended his hitting streak to four games.

RF Willy Montero (1-for-3, R, BB, 2 K, SB) snapped a two-game hitless streak.

LHP Jose Ledesma (1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K) made his High-A debut.

Between High-A Hudson Valley and Single-A Tampa, Ledesma has through five straight scoreless appearances since 8/13.

RHP Andrew Landry (1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K) is 3-for-5 in save opportunities this season.

Landry has not allowed an earned run in 12 of his last 13 appearances since 7/7.
