Allentown, Pennsylvania (September 10, 2026) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (30-35, 65-75) could not overcome a five-run first inning by the Worcester Red Sox (36-28, 72-63) as they fell 7-4 on Thursday night at Coca-Cola Park.
Worcester opened the scoring for a third straight game, sending nine to the plate in the five run first. Franklin Arias broke the ice with an RBI single before Tyler McDonough legged out an infield single to make it 2-0. Nathan Hickey then drove in a pair with another base hit while Tsung-Che Cheng capped the scoring with an RBI fielder’s choice to make it 5-0.
Kameron Misner clapped back for the ‘Pigs with a solo homer in the last of the first to get them on the board.
Tyler McDonough equalized Misner’s homer with a solo shot of his own in the third to restore Worcester’s five-run edge.
Wuilfredo Antunez tripled to start the last of the third and scored on a Jordan Dissin groundout to cut the deficit back to four.
A second RBI single for Arias in the sixth put the WooSox back up by five, 7-2.
Still down five in the ninth, Misner singled to start the frame and scored on a Keaton Anthony double. The ‘Pigs loaded the bases with one out, bringing up Antunez as the tying run, and he brought home Anthony on a fielder’s choice to make it 7-4. Ultimately, the ‘Pigs left the tying run at the plate as a Dissin flyout died on the track to end the game.
Blake Wehunt (W, 3-1) allowed just two runs on two hits over six frames to earn the win for the WooSox while Alan Rangel (L, 3-8) took the loss for the ‘Pigs, allowing six runs over five innings.
The ‘Pigs and WooSox continue their series on Friday, September 11th at Coca-Cola Park with first pitch slated for 6:45 p.m. The ‘Pigs hand the ball to Chuck King while Worcester counters with John Holobetz.
