New Hampshire Blanked by Harrisburg on Thursday

MANCHESTER, NH – The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (24-41, 58-74) dropped their Thursday night contest at Delta Dental Stadium to the Harrisburg Senators (32-31, 66-66), 8-0. A night after the Fisher Cats combined to strike out 14 batters, three New Hampshire arms struck out 13 Senators, including six from starter Jackson Wentworth.

Wentworth (L, 7-9) allowed four runs, three earned, on eight hits in 4-1/3 innings. Right-hander Angel Obando followed with five strikeouts in 2-2/3 innings and Aaron Munson tossed the final two frames and was tagged for three runs on four hits.

Harrisburg starter Josh Hartle (W, 5-5) fired five scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Relievers Robert Cranz, Eriq Swan, Kendeglys Virguez, and Blake Brown combined to throw the final four innings and kept the shutout intact.

Harrisburg opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the third. Third base Kervin Perchardo singed and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Catcher Caleb Farme knocked an RBI single and made it 1-0. Following another base hit, Farmer scored on an error which made it 2-0.

The Senator’s bats stayed hot as second baseman Devin Fitz-Gerald (7) launched a two-run homer in the top of the fifth. In the sixth, Pichardo (12) clubbed a solo homer which gave Harrisburg a five-run advantage.

The Sens scratched across their sixth run of the night on a wild pitch in the eighth. In the top of the ninth inning, a Sam Brown RBI single and a force out extended Harrisburg’s lead to 8-0.

New Hampshire and Harrisburg continue their series on Friday, September 11, with first pitch slated for 6:03 PM. Right-hander Nolan Perry (0-1, 2.67 ERA) will start for the Cats, and the Senators will counter with righty Yoel Tejada Jr. (0-5, 7.31 ERA).
