Made Ties Chourio for Single-Season RBI Record, Shuckers Fall to Blue Wahoos
PENSACOLA, FL – The Biloxi Shuckers (63-66, 28-36) fell to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (77-55, 41-22), 15-7, in a series opener at Blue Wahoos Stadium on Tuesday night. The game saw 22 combined runs, 28 combined hits and three home runs, including a pair from Jesús Made and Josh Adamczewski.
PENSACOLA, FL – The Biloxi Shuckers (63-66, 28-36) fell to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (77-55, 41-22), 15-7, in a series opener at Blue Wahoos Stadium on Tuesday night. The game saw 22 combined runs, 28 combined hits and three home runs, including a pair from Jesús Made and Josh Adamczewski. Made’s home run, a solo blast in the ninth inning, drove in his 89th RBI of the season, tying Jackson Chourio for the Shuckers single-season franchise record.
The Shuckers stormed out to a 3-0 lead after a half inning with an RBI singles from Andrew Fischer and Damon Keith and a sacrifice fly from Eric Bitonti, bringing in his first Double-A RBI. In the bottom of the first, Max Williams made it 3-1 with a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Adrian Santana from third. The Shuckers extended the lead to 5-1 in the fourth when an error after a stolen base allowed Daniel Dickinson to score from third and an RBI single from Josh Adamczewski. The Blue Wahoos made it 5-3 in the fourth with an RBI double from Ethan O’Donnell. In the sixth, the Blue Wahoos took a 6-5 lead with a solo home run from Max Williams and an error that allowed Ethan O’Donnell to score from third on a fielder’s choice. In the eighth, the Blue Wahoos extended the lead to 15-7 with an RBI single from Dylan Jasso, a bases-loaded walk to Dillon Lewis, a pair of RBI singles from Max Williams and Ryan Ignoffo, a sacrifice fly from Ethan O’Donnell to center and a three-run, bases-clearing double from Colby Shade. The Shuckers struck back with back-to-back home runs in the ninth from Jesús Made and Josh Adamczewski, making it 15-7. Tristan Stevens (1-0) earned the win while Wande Torres (1-1) took the loss.
At the plate, Josh Adamczewski (2-for-3), Andrew Fischer (2-for-4) and Braylon Payne (3-for-5) each recorded multi-hit performances. Eric Bitonti (1-for-3) and Daniel Dickinson (1-for-3) also recorded hits in their Double-A debuts.
The series continues on Wednesday, with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Bishop Letson (6-6, 5.09) is scheduled to start for the Shuckers against Alex Williams (4-8, 6.11) for the Blue Wahoos.
