Storm Chasers Walk Off Saints 3-2 in Extra Innings

PAPILLION, NEB. – The Omaha Storm Chasers (28-31/61-72) took down the St. Paul Saints (34-27/76-59) in walk-off fashion in 10th innings 3-2 on Friday night. Jacob Berry provided the walk-off sacrifice fly, going 2-for-4 in the contest while Hunter Patteson didn’t allow an earned run over 4.1 innings of relief in the 1-run victory.

The Saints opened the game getting on the board first with a solo home run off Storm Chasers starter John Means in the top of the 1st inning to make it a 1-0 game.

Means followed with back-to-back scoreless frames in the 2nd and 3rd innings, then Hunter Patteson took over to on the mound in the top of the 4th inning.

Patteson then worked a scoreless 4th inning and perfect 5th inning before firing another scoreless frame in the top of the 6th inning, with a stretch of 7 straight batters retired between the 4^th and 6^th innings. The left-hander came back out for the top of the 7th inning and despite putting runners on the corners, worked out of the jam to keep it a 1-run game.

The Storm Chasers then took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the 7th inning on a Peyton Wilson 2-run double. After Patteson exited in the top of the 8th inning with a runner on second and one out, the Saints tied the game 2-2 with an RBI single off Scott Alexander, scoring an unearned run.

Carlos Duran fired a 1-2-3 top of the 9th inning, and after Omaha failed to score in the bottom half, Ethan Bosacker (4-1) worked a 3-up, 3-down top of the 10th inning to keep the game tied.

In the bottom of the 10th inning, Luca Tresh advanced extra-inning placed runner Abraham Toro to third base with a sacrifice bunt, then Berry drove Toro in with a sacrifice fly to end the game 3-2.

The Saints will be back at Werner Park to take on the Storm Chasers on Saturday evening. First pitch is set for 6:05 P.M. CT and Vince Velasquez is scheduled to start for Omaha.
