PENSACOLA, FL – Nine Pensacola Blue Wahoos players from the 2025 season and 10 overall were among the Miami Marlins’ touted prospects named Thursday on the team’s preliminary roster for the third annual Major League Baseball Spring Breakout showcase.

The exhibition game event will be March 19-22 across spring training sites.

The group is led by the Marlins’ top two rated prospects on MLB Pipeline – pitchers Thomas White and Robby Snelling – along with catchers Joe Mack (No. 5 rated) and Ryan Ignoffo, outfielder Kemp Alderman (No. 9), pitcher Karson Milbrandt (No. 10) and Fenwick Trimble (No. 20). They are part of the 40-player pool chosen for the game.

White, however, sustained an oblique strain, which will sideline him for 3-to-4 weeks and will likely be replaced on the playing roster.

Other former Blue Wahoos on the Spring Breakout team are outfielders Matthew Etzel and Andrew Pintar and pitcher Colby Martin. Pintar was on the 2024 Blue Wahoos team, becoming the 10th player on the roster with a Pensacola tie.

The Marlins prospect team will play March 19 at 11:05 a.m. (Central Time) against the Houston Astros prospect team at CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches – the Astros spring training home in West Palm Beach. It will among the six games played on the opening day of the event, which features 16 games across the Florida and Arizona spring training sites.

The games will be broadcast live on MLB.tv, MLB.com, MLB Network and the MLB app during the four-day slate of games. Major League Baseball announced the roster for all teams during a special show Thursday on the MLB Network.

The MLB Spring Breakout made its debut in 2024 as a new way to showcase baseball’s best young talent during Spring Training. The Blue Wahoos have now had 26 players chosen for the three years of games.

The rosters are built around MLB Pipeline’s Top 30 Prospect lists for each club.

Robby Snelling and catcher Joe Mack, two of the Miami Marlins top prospects and likely to make MLB debuts, started 2025 season with Blue Wahoos and were named to 2026 Marlins Spring Breakout Team roster.Nino Mendez/Pensacola Blue Wahoos

White dazzled his way across three minor league levels last season. He started 10 games for the Blue Wahoos and his 2-1 record and 1.79 earned run average earned recognition as the Marlins’ Double-A player of the year, as chosen by the Marlins at the end of the 2025 season.

Snelling, who began the 2025 season with the Blue Wahoos before climbing at midseason to Triple-A Jacksonville, was named the Marlins organization pitcher of the year. Alderman, the former Ole Miss star who helped the Rebels to a College World Series title, was named the organization hitter of the year.
