Believe 31 supports volunteer firefights battling cancer or other life threatening illnesses. We cover Onondaga, Madison, Cortland and Oswego counties. This comprises of 112 fire departments and EMS agencies with over 1,000 members.

Whispering Woods Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit wildlife rehabilitation organization serving Oswego County and surrounding areas of New York. We are licensed to rehabilitate native New York mammals, with special licensing for Rabies Vector Species and Big Game. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and return injured and orphaned wildlife back to the wild while providing education that promotes responsible, compassionate coexistence with our native wildlife. Our work is supported through donations, fundraising, and the generosity of our community.

The Literacy Coalition of Onondaga County is a network of local organizations working together to promote literacy for people of all ages. Its mission is to support literacy advocates, develop resources and initiatives, and engage the community to improve literacy across the lifespan. The Coalition grew out of the Central New York Community Foundation’s “Read Ahead” initiative, launched in 2003 to strengthen early childhood education, improve children’s literacy, increase family engagement, and build a network of literacy providers. In 2007, community planning meetings led to the formal creation of the Coalition, and in 2008 it hired its first executive director and established leadership structures. In 2010, the Coalition launched the Dolly Parton Imagination Library (DPIL) in Onondaga County and began outreach efforts to expand the program. Today, it is the largest DPIL affiliate in New York State, sending more than 16,000 books each month to children ages birth to five. The Coalition also supports literacy efforts through Literacy Champion Grants, awarding nearly $400,000 to over 50 agencies in the past three years. Its work focuses on three main pillars: Childhood & Family Literacy (Dolly Parton Imagination Library), Adult Literacy (Adult Roundtable), Champion Grants to support community literacy initiatives.

Vera House is a Syracuse-based nonprofit that has served the Central New York community for nearly 50 years, with a mission to prevent, respond to, and partner to end domestic and sexual violence and other forms of abuse. Founded in 1977 to provide emergency shelter for people in crisis, the organization has grown into a comprehensive provider of domestic and sexual violence services, today operating out of its James Street location and reaching thousands of adults and children across Onondaga County each year. Vera House has earned a strong reputation for providing comprehensive and compassionate care to those affected by domestic violence, sexual abuse, and elder abuse.

Erin's Angels of CNY is a Central New York nonprofit organization dedicated to uniting people and resources to make food, education, and opportunity a right for every child.
Founded in memory of Erin Maxwell, Erin's Angels works to remove barriers that prevent children from thriving. Through weekend meal programs, summer support, scholarships, community outreach, and advocacy initiatives such as the Children's Bill of Rights, the organization addresses food insecurity while also investing in long-term opportunity.
At its core, Erin's Angels believes that children deserve more than temporary relief, they deserve stability, dignity, and the chance to succeed. By partnering with schools, businesses, volunteers, and community leaders, the organization creates hunger-free weekends, fuels community care, and helps break cycles of poverty.
Erin's Angels of CNY is not only about meeting immediate needs it is about building a future where every child is nourished, supported, and empowered to thrive.
