Isotopes Honored With "Outstanding Corporation" Award by Special Olympics New Mexico

On Saturday, Aug. 1, the Albuquerque Isotopes were honored with the “Outstanding Corporation” award by Special Olympics New Mexico at their annual awards luncheon hosted at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center.
The award is presented to a “business or corporation who has made an outstanding commitment to Special Olympics New Mexico through volunteer, financial, and/or leadership support.”
Each year, the Isotopes host several initiatives at Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park supporting Special Olympics New Mexico. Over the last few years in December, the club hosts the Posole Ole Fun Walk, bringing Special Olympics athletes, families and community members to the ballpark to raise funds.
In May, the Law Enforcement Torch Run comes through Isotopes Park during an Isotopes game highlighting the Special Olympics State Summer Games that takes place across the street at the University of New Mexico.
The Isotopes also hosted its second annual Guns & Hoses Chairty Softball Game in July on First Responders Night featuring local firefighters, police officers and Special Olympics athletes, helping raise funds for Special Olympics New Mexico.
Lastly, the club employs two Special Olympics athletes—James Keefner on the grounds crew, commonly known as the “Mayor of Isotopes Park” and Chris Dixon with Stadium Operations.
