Barons Get the 3-2 Walkoff Win over the Smokies on Tuesday night

Jordan Sprinkle got the walkoff hit, and the Birmingham Barons won 3-2 over the Knoxville Smokies before 2,489 at Regions Field on Tuesday night. In the 10th inning with one out, Jorge Corona advanced to third base on a wild pitch and scored on the Sprinkle RBI single.

Starting pitcher Connor McCullough pitched 4.1 innings, giving up seven hits, two earned runs, and no walks with two strikeouts. Jackson Kelley pitched 1.2 innings with two strikeouts. Jonathan Clark pitched two innings, giving up two hits and getting a strikeout. Pierce George (6-2, 5.23) gets the win, going two innings with a strikeout.

Birmingham (32-32, 58-75) scored in the bottom of the first inning. Caleb Bonemer doubled down the right field line. Alec Briley followed with a double to left-center field, scoring Bonemer, and the Barons took the early 1-0 lead.

An RBI single scored Alex Ramirez, and Knoxville tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third inning.

In the top of the fifth inning, the Smokies took the lead. An RBI single scored Alex Madera, and Knoxville took the 2-1 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Ryan Burrowes had an infield single, and a throwing error moved Burrowes to second base. Jorge Corona hit a sacrifice fly to left field misplayed by the Smokies left fielder, scoring Burrowes.

With Corona starting out at second base. A wild pitch by Luis Rujano moved Corona to third base. After a Barons ground out, Sprinkle hit a line drive in the right-center field gap, scoring Corona and giving the Barons the 3-2 win.
