Earlier this week it was announced that Dalton Wentz was named to the 2026 Arizona Fall League Fall Stars Game. The game will be played this Sunday at 5 PM PST and will be broadcasted live on the MLB Network.
Wentz was a 16th round draft selection out of Wake Forest University. After signing with the Giants, Wentz made his way to Eugene where he made his professional debut on August 20th at PK Park. He appeared in 13 regular season games where he posted a .265 batting average and a .797 OPS to go along with 10 RBI’s across 57 plate appearances. He recorded six extra-base hits, including a grand-slam on August 25th as his first professional home run.
The former Demon Deacon was joined by a couple of current and former Emeralds, including shortstop Kaeden Kent and outfielder Dakota Jordan on the Scottsdale Scorpions. 2026 Emeralds pitching coach Luis Pino also joined them as the Scorpions pitching coach.
His great end to the season in Eugene carried over into the AFL, as he has kept his bat red-hot. Wentz ranks 14th on the Scorpions in at-bats with only 32, yet he currently ranks third on the team with 13 RBI’s. He’s posted a .313 batting average to go along with a .967 OPS. He’s recorded four extra-base hits, while striking out just six times and drawing five walks.
Wentz has had an impressive start to his pro career, and he’ll have a chance to put his skills on display Sunday Night on MLB Network.
