What's New at Principal Park

Digital Program

The traditional game program has also gone digital. All fans should look for the QR Codes both outside and inside the ballpark to download the program for free. With a digital program, there will be new interactive fun to have during your game experience and real-time player information. Sign up for the Iowa Cubs email newsletter and you’ll get the game program emailed to you at the close of every home stand.

Cashless Ballpark

Cash will NOT be accepted. We will accept debit or credit payments only. Two reverse ATM machines will be available inside Principal Park near the JP Party Rentals Fan Services Center behind home plate. At those machines, fans can exchange cash for a pre-paid Mastercard debit card that is good not only at Principal Park, but anywhere in the United States that Mastercard is accepted.

Cubbie Dollars will also be accepted inside Principal Park.

Metal Detectors

All fans will pass through metal detectors at every entrance at Principal Park. No weapons are allowed inside Principal Park, even with a permit. The Des Moines Police Department and CSC will assist Iowa Cubs staff with bringing fans into the ballpark swiftly and safely.

Face Masks

FACE MASKS:

In conjunction with the City of Des Moines, the Iowa Cubs HIGHLY RECOMMEND that all Non-Vaccinated fans wear a mask while attending games at Principal Park. Masks will not be required to enter the stadium, in the concourse, in the Team Store or in the seating bowl.
Masks will be required for any fans participating in promotions on the field.

Social distancing, face masks and frequent hand washing are clear recommendations for ways you can reduce your risk of catching or spreading COVID-19.

Tickets

The best way to buy tickets for Iowa Cubs games in online - especially when seating capacity is limited. Digital ticketing allows you to share tickets with friends and co-workers via email and avoid being in lines and gathering groups of fans at the ballpark. Within the digital ticketing system, you can use your smart phone to get scanned into the ballpark when you arrive, but smart phones are not required. Print-at-home options are still available.

WALK-UP TICKETS/WILL CALL

If fans arrive at Principal Park without tickets, members of the Iowa Cubs staff will be available outside the gates to help fans purchase tickets through their phone rather than waiting in line. The ticket windows will only be open for walk-up purchases starting three hours prior to game time. Any Will Call opportunities will be handled at Window 4 outside Gate B.

PREMIUM TICKET PICK-UP

Fans picking up tickets and wristbands for our premium areas do not need to report to a ticket window. All check-ins for the Betfred Sports Left Field Lounge or the all-you-can-eat Budweiser Club should report to the Iowa Cubs tent outside Gate A. All check-ins for the BMW of Des Moines Skybox Suites should check-in at the tent next to the green awning outside Gate C.

Concession Operations

Centerplate is the official concessions and hospitality partner of the Iowa Cubs. The Centerplate staff will be open to provide concessions during events. Here are some important considerations and changes to what you may be used to with the concessions operation at Principal Park:

No outside food or beverage will be allowed.

At those machines, fans can exchange cash for a pre-paid Mastercard debit card that is good not only at Principal Park, but anywhere in the United States that Mastercard is accepted.
Pre and post-event area sanitation standards developed following local health regulations.
Equipment sanitation before, during and after each shift.
Hand sanitizer available for all guests and staff.
Deep cleaning of stands and equipment before and after every event.

Team Store Policies

The Iowa Cubs Team Store will be open during events. Please follow the following guidelines when shopping the Team Store:

Access to the Team Store will only be allowed through the concourse behind home plate. There will be no entry or exit through the main lobby at Gate C.

Media Access

The Iowa Cubs welcome media coverage for any open event. Please observe the following guidelines for credentials and access:

All credential requests should be submitted in advance to Iowa Cubs Media Relations Manager Colin Connolly. Requests should be submitted by email to colinc@iowacubs.com.
All working media should enter at Gate C and show credentials at reception desk before entering stadium or press box.
Camera access will be limited to a one person per photo well in each dugout (not including the working member or the Iowa Cubs Video Team).
*_Press box food and drink access is subject to availability. *_Credentialed media members will be allowed to bring in their own water bottles if needed. Available press box food and drinks may be taken out of the press box to allow for distancing while eating.
No guests or public access to the video room, broadcast booths or other working areas of the press box.

ADA Seating

ADA seating is available at Principal Park. Elevators are located inside Gate C and in left field through the Left Field Lounge entrance.

Affiliation

The Iowa Cubs have been the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs since 1981. They are a member of the 20-team International League.

Alcohol

Must be at least 21 years old to purchase and consume alcohol. Alcohol sales end at the conclusion of the seventh inning.

Animals

Properly identified service animals with visible credentials are permitted into Principal Park. The ballpark is open to all dogs with the signing of a waiver on any "Dog Days" promotional dates.

Two reverse ATM machines will be available inside Principal Park near the Cambria Fan Services Center behind home plate. At those machines, fans can exchange cash for a pre-paid Mastercard debit card that is good not only at Principal Park, but anywhere in the United States that Mastercard is accepted.

Autographs

Fans are permitted to seek autographs before the game down the third base line on the outfield side of the Iowa Cubs dugout. Autograph seekers must return to their seats prior to first pitch. Please do not disrupt others that are seated and enjoying the game. Autographs are not guaranteed.

Cameras

Cameras are permitted provided they are intended for personal use only. Fans are not permitted to obstruct walkways, aisles or block others from viewing the game while taking photographs. Photos cannot be sold for profit.

Cashless Policy

Principal Park is a cashless facility and accepts most major credit cards. The Iowa Cubs will not accept cash or check payments. There is a reverse ATM machine located near the JP Party Rentals Fan Services Center in the concourse behind home plate. Concession stands do not accept Apple or Google Pay.
