JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Despite six strong innings from Karson Milbrandt, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp fell to the Gwinnett Stripers 3-2 in 10 innings Friday night at VyStar Ballpark in front of 10,768 fans.
With the game tied at one in the top of the 10th, Jim Jarvis started the inning at second as the zombie runner for Gwinnett (73-68, 36-32). Jarvis stole third and Lizandro Espinoza drew a walk, putting runners at first and third. A fielding error plated the go-ahead run for the Stripers. With runners at the corners following an error, Luke Williams stole second and Espinoza scored from third on the throw, giving Gwinnett a two-run advantage.
Jacksonville (70-71, 28-39) had Logan Driscoll start the bottom of the frame as the zombie runner at second. Following a groundout, Cam Cannarella drew a walk, putting runners on first and second. Matthew Etzel knocked a base hit, plating Driscoll which cut the deficit to one, 3-2. Blake Burkhalter (S, 1) got the next two outs, closing the win for Gwinnett.

The Stripers evened the score in the fourth. Rowdy Tellez walked and advanced to third on a single from David McCabe. Jordan Groshans plated Tellez on a groundout.
Jacksonville and Gwinnett continue their series with Saturday’s 6:35 p.m. contest. LHP Patrick Monteverde (4-2, 6.19 ERA) will toe the rubber for the Jumbo Shrimp and the Stripers will counter with RHP Cedric De Grandpre (1-2, 4.09 ERA).
