HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Express and Comets were both held scoreless through the first six innings. RHP David Davalillo held the Comets to one hit over six innings while RHP Christian Romero limited the E-Train to just three hits.

Oklahoma City created traffic on the bases in the top of the seventh following a double and two walks. CF Zach Ehrhard shot a single into left field to score 2B Hyeseong Kim and SS Noah Miller from second and third. The Comets clung to a 2-0 lead entering the final few frames.

The Comets added a run in the ninth after Ehrhard collected another RBI single to make it a three-run advantage.

The Express broke the shutout bid after RF Aaron Zavala drove in a run with a double in the bottom of the ninth. The E-Train could not score the tying run as they dropped Sunday’s finale 3-1.

WHERE WE STAND: Round Rock was swept by Oklahoma City in the 6-game set at Dell Diamond, suffering their 1^st 6-game sweep since 7/25-30, 2023 at El Paso and 1^st at home since 5/9-14, 2023 vs Oklahoma City…finish the season with a 1-11 record at Dell Diamond and 7-17 overall against the Comets…wrapped up the season-long 12-game homestand with a 3-9 record after a 3-3 split against Albuquerque (8/25-30)…the Express are now 33-30 in the 2^nd half…are in 6^th place in the Pacific Coast League standings…have lost 8 of their last 10 games.

RHP DAVID DAVALILLO: (ND, 5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 6 SO, BB, 65 pitches, 39 strikes) tossed 5.0 scoreless frames in his 4^th start against the Comets this season…marks his 4^th start of 5.0+ innings and 2^nd without allowing a run…struck out 6 batters, which is 1 shy of his season-high from 8/14 vs Sugar Land…retired the side in order in the 1^st, 4^th and 5^th frames…struck out the side in the 5^th…Express are 1-6 at Dell Diamond and 3-9 overall in Davalillo’s starts.

DH KYLE HIGASHIOKA: was 1 of 2 Round Rock batters (INF Jonah Bride) to reach base twice on Sunday afternoon…singled in the 6^th and drew a walk in the 9^th …went 2-for-11 with a R and 2 BB in 3 G with the Express this week.

OF AARON ZAVALA: drove in the lone run for the Express with his double in the 9^th inning… recorded his 30^th double this season and is now 1 of just 5 PCL players this season to hit 30+ doubles this campaign… becomes the 7^th Round Rock player since the start of the 2021 season to own 30+ doubles on the season and the first since INF Blaine Crim during the 2024 season.

NOTES: The Round Rock pitching staff struck out 73 batters in the 6-game set against the Comets, which is their 3^rd most in a single week this season…finished the series with a 3.39 ERA (23 ER/61.0 IP), the 2^nd lowest in the Pacific Coast League behind Oklahoma City (1.62).
