Indians Shut Out by Storm Chasers on Thursday Night

INDIANAPOLIS – The Omaha Storm Chasers scored eight unanswered runs to shut out the Indianapolis Indians, 8-0, on Thursday night at Victory Field. Mitch Jebb extended his on-base streak to 19 games with a walk in the fifth inning.

Omaha (31-33, 64-74) opened the scoring by manufacturing three runs in the first inning, capped by an RBI double from major league rehabber Maikel Garcia for a 3-0 lead. The Storm Chasers extended the advantage to 5-0 by posting one run in both the third and fourth inning. Luca Tresh recorded an RBI knock in the third and Javier Vaz came home in the fourth on a wild pitch from Michael Darrell-Hicks. Omaha went on to add two runs in the sixth frame and one in the seventh.

Hunter Barco (L, 4-8), started for the Indians (37-29, 68-73) and allowed three runs across just 1.2 innings. Darrell-Hicks allowed two runs across 2.1 innings and Cy Nielson gave up three (1er) in 2.2 stanzas. Beau Burrows tossed 1.1 scoreless frames and position player Mike Jarvis blanked Omaha in the ninth.

John Means started for the Storm Chasers and tossed 4.0 shutout innings with two hits, zero walks and four strikeouts. Hunter Patteson (W, 1-1) followed him with 3.0 scoreless innings.

The Indians and Storm Chasers continue this week’s six-game series, the final homestand at Victory Field this season, on Friday at 6:35 PM ET. LHP Connor Wietgrefe (5-5, 3.45) is scheduled to pitch for Indy with RHP Vince Velasquez (3-4, 6.48) on the mound for Omaha.
